The proper separation of waste in the home plays an important role in the managed disposal of your refuse once it is collected. On the one hand it reduces the amount sent for disposal and on the other it positively conditions individuals to consider their recycling resposibilties at the source. The design team behind the OVETTO wanted to create an item that meets the need for domestic waste separation but also educates people to correctly dispose of their waste to allow for its consequent recycle. The result is a product that unites function, environmental education and stylish design beautifully.
To promote domestic recycling, this container has three compartments, which are distinguished with stickers or flap colours that match their respective wheelie-bins. Each compartment has a door for bag removal and a small opening with a cover for waste deposit. The covers close tightly so that bad odours cannot escape. On the top there is a crusher for plastic bottles that also reduces the volume of the waste allowing a larger number of bottles to be collected... see below.
The “egg” shape of the bin, its colours and its soft tapered lines make this a designer item that will fit into any room and with any furnishings. It is equally at home in a kitchen, in the office, school, or outside on the terrace or the deck.
The OVETTO also serves to to educate people to respect the environment, by helping them correctly dispose of their waste. With repeated use it becomes habit and eventually recycling will become a natural part of everyday life.
